What is ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene sheet?
Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene sheet, abbreviated as UHMWPE sheet, refers to polyethylene polymer sheets with a molecular weight of over 3 million. Compared to ordinary high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE), its molecular weight is larger, therefore it has relatively excellent physical and mechanical properties.
UHMWPE sheets are commonly used for manufacturing wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and high-strength components. It has extremely low friction coefficient and excellent self-lubrication, which not only reduces energy consumption but also prolongs the service life of machinery and equipment. For example, making ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene scraper plates for manufacturing conveyor belts can reduce wear and damage to equipment caused by material scraping, providing protection.
UHMWPE sheets also have excellent impact resistance, fatigue resistance, and low temperature resistance. They can be used at low temperatures of -269 ℃ and are not prone to cracking and fragmentation. Therefore, they are widely used in fields such as ice and snow sports, skateboarding, shipping, aerospace, and so on.
